We now move up into our higher chakras, starting at the heart chakra. The heart chakra is also known as Anahata in Sanskrit, and acts as our centre of compassion, empathy, love and forgiveness. The heart chakra is also known as the seat of the soul, is probably one of the hardest chakras to bring back into balance, as it holds the memories of our past and its in this chakra where grief usually finds its home. The clearing of the heart chakra entails a lot of healing, letting of your past and finding it within ourselves to forgive others and ourselves. I would like to take a moment here to correct a misconception about forgiveness. Forgiveness is not about letting any one "of the hook" if they have wronged you or hurt you. Forgiveness is about creating your boundaries to protect yourself, cutting cords with the person/place/event that has caused you grief. Forgiveness is about you moving away from the memories and energy still hurts you. Its about saying, "I know you have hurt me, but I will not allow you to control and dictate my future. I write my own future, and I will not allow you to control my capacity to love".
The heart chakra is extremely important not only because it governs our capacity to be empathetic and loving not only others but also to ourselves. It is important as it is the fourth of the seven main chakras, symbolising the mid point, the union of the spiritual and physical. Connecting our lower chakras, the root, sacral and solar plexus to our higher chakras, the throat, third eye and crown chakra, our heart chakra acts as the bridge between Heaven and Earth.
When your heart chakra is out of balance the following can be observed loneliness, fear, feelings of being unloved, being insecure out of balance the following. Physically an imbalanced heart chakra can affect your heart, lungs and circulatory systems. Cultivating a daily routine of gratitude can greatly assist in balancing the heart chakra and assist with maintaing a calm mind and body.
The heart chakra is feminine in energy and is symbolised by a green six pointed star inside a twelve petaled flower. The element associated with this chakra is air and the mantras are "I LOVE" and "YAM".
The crystals associated with the heart chakra are green amethyst, rhodonite, rose quartz, rhodochrosite, pink tormaline and green apophyllite. Again these are only my recommendations, any green or pink crystal will assist you with the balancing of the heart chakra
The Earths heart chakra is located at Stonehenge, England, while the Solfeggio sound frequency of 639hz resonates and helps balance and unblock your heart chakra.
Besides using the meditation recommended below I would also suggest cultivating a morning gratitude practice. In the morning when you get up, write down five things that you are grateful for and why you are grateful for it. The reason I suggest including why you are grateful, is because it will invoke feelings within your heart of gratitude, it will not suggest be a shopping list! It will cultivate not just gratitude on the paper but gratitude in your heart as well.
For the next three days focus with intention on clearing and balancing your heart chakra. You can do this in a number of different ways. You can use the meditations below, use one that you prefer, use a mantra meditation instead, do yoga poses, sit in stillness focusing on your heart chakra... as you can see there are a number of different ways to cleanse your chakras. Pick one method that resonates with you and set a time out every day (preferably the same time everyday) where you will not be disturbed and with intention connect, clear and recharge your sacral chakra. Don't forget to share your experiences in the facebook group! :) I would recommend also printing out/ writing down the affirmations in the picture below and saying them out loud everyday with intention (go ahead and create some of your own affirmations and share them with the group, if you feel called to do so! :)).
